GeoStudio 2004 - Updated Versions of all
Products Now Available
The latest GeoStudio product update, Version 6.11, was just released
on October 21, 2004. This includes new versions of SLOPE/W, SEEP/W,
SIGMA/W, QUAKE/W, TEMP/W, CTRAN/W and VADOSE/W. This new release is the result
of extensive user feedback and additional product testing conducted since the
initial release of GeoStudio 2004 in May. Besides stability improvements,
fixes, and performance increases, several new features have been added
since May, including importing DXF files as regions, displaying unit labels on
output parameters, and international language support in the Sketch Text
command.

Using Regions in SLOPE/W 2004
In GeoStudio 2004, the Version 6 release of our software, we introduced
the concept of regions as a multi-point polygon which can represent a
particular soil unit. This is a much more intuitive way of defining
stratigraphic soil units than what was previously available in Version 5. The
introduction of regions has had the greatest beneficial impact in SLOPE/W as
the use of lines is now no longer required to define stratigraphic layers. In
all our finite element programs, automatic mesh generation within regions now
makes it possible to ensure mesh compatibility throughout the entire domain.
